Uncle Dudley is a relative of Billy Batson and is shown to be a senior adult of medium height who is stocky and portly in build with wisps of gray hair on his largely bald head. He is an easy-going person but with a concern for the welfare of his young nephew, Billy.
He lives in a mobile home where he sometimes plays host to Billy whom he knows is Shazam. When the latter goes on a mission, Dudley can be seen nearby, directing the public to safety and shouting encouragement to the superhero. In Dudley's only story, Mr. Mxyzptlk falsely poses as the Wizard in order to grant Dudley super-powers and make him into the bumbling Captain Bamboozle. These powers consist of some usual ones (flight, super-strength) and a ridiculous "food power" that allows him to call down food on himself from nowhere. He can also suck up an entire swimming pool of water into his belly and blow it onto a fire. While in this guise, he wears a costume identical to that of Shazam but with a turned-up collar.
Captain Bamboozle only causes mayhem, and he loses his powers as soon as he tricks Mxyzptlk into saying his name backwards.
