The foot-soldiers of Darkseid on Apokolips.
Description[]
Parademons (or 'para-demons') have a demonic look with their lit-up eyes and bestial faces. They have wings, long ape-like arms, and stand on bird-like feet in a crouched position with their knees bent. Although they can engage in conversation using their hoarse voices, they show no individuality and are obedient to their masters, the New Gods, and address their ruler as "Lord Darkseid". Parademons can be seen in the company of Darkseid, Steppenwolf or Granny Goodness, or as the crew of the space fleet of Apokolips, or on their own on a mission for Darkseid. They are not too bright and can have difficulty identifying the correct target victim.
As soldiers sent to do the dirty work of Darkseid, they can fly and engage in unarmed combat but can also use guns.
To deal with Superman, they can throw a kryptonite ray bomb, and their sharp claws can tear through the metal skin of a vehicle. 'Boom Tube' technology is used for long-range travel. On one occasion, we see a lone example of a larger, more armored parademon that is able to use something akin to heat vision.
The Justice League can train against virtual versions of them created by the Watchtower's holographic combat simulator.
