General Zod

A super-villain, and an enemy of Superman and the Justice League.

Description[]

General Zod appears as tall and muscular with short dark hair and a clean-shaven face. He wears a tight black costume with metallic attachments. Speaking with haughty authority in a mature voice, he is dictatorial by nature and, often wearing an evil smirk, he mocks others with his laughter.

He is Kryptonian (like Superman) and is usually held prisoner in the Phantom Zone, a place that exists in its own dimension and where Kryptonians have sent their most dangerous criminals. When Zod is free, his intention is to subjugate the Earth, make its people suffer for his incarceration and make them "kneel before Zod" - as he likes to say. To assist him, he has two followers (he calls them "loyal soldiers"), Faora and Quex-Ul, who are his fellow prisoners and obey his commands.

Zod has the same powers as Superman once he gets out into the yellow sun, but until then can make use of more conventional weapons. Having also the same weaknesses, he can be laid low by green kryptonite. He is knowledgeable about the Phantom Zone and is familiar with the devices and objects involved in the transfer to and from that place, but that does not stop him from being tricked into being sent back there.

We are told that he has fought the Justice League in the past.
